It’s on, I booked a place for next years Étape du Tour between Annecy and Montée du Semnoz, around 130km in distance and approximately 4,500 metres of climbing.
No Hollywood climbs on this edition of the Étape which is a bit of a disappointment, but that last climb on Semnoz looks like a difficult one averaging about 9% for the last 7km. It’s the route of tour stage 20, the pen-ultimate stage, on what will be the centenary edition of the race and all bets are on Pierre Roland to win it on what could be a massive day for the GC contenders.
The good news is that the finish is only 20km from the start so no schlepping around the day before to leave the car at the finish line, a logistical headache. Even better is that I’ve booked an apartment right in the centre of Annecy, last year I was 35km from the start which was a bit of a pain.
