I'm New Here album cover
RAD, not something I was expecting to see but there’s a new Gil Scott-Heron album on the way, it’s entitled I’m New Here out on the 8th of February on XL Recordings.
As far as I was aware he’s been in and out of prison for the last decade or so so I’m glad he’s got it together to release some new material.

Just read this article The 101 Best Music Videos of the Decade which has the videos for some great work. No surprise there’s a bag full of Michel Gondry videos, including the winning entry ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’ for the White Stripes, although I was quite surprised that the video for Around the World by Daft Park doesn’t make the list.
So rare I even see music videos these days apart from on YouTube perhaps, was just trying to remember when I last saw a music video on the TV and I honestly cannot remember. Oh no, hang on, it was a clip of a Katherine Jenkins video which is a cover of some shite Evanescence song and it was a total load of bollocks, the song and the video.
I can’t even believe I just made the effort to find it on YouTube.
It’s Friday afternoon and I’m in a rockin’ kind of mood, I think I want this played at my funeral. Can’t believe it’s over 20 years ago since the first Pixies album came out.

Just found myself over at the Spike Jonze blog and saw this video for Unkle, saw the original footage from Fully Flared a while ago and thought it was great, as is this video; skateboarding, explosions and music from Unkle.
Just headed over to the Thrasher website and saw they have a new video player. No bad thing, I used to hate the Quick Time movies they had, so slow. This is some RAD footage of Christian Hosoi, that benihana! Holmes.

Just booked tickets to see Omar Souleyman and Group Doueh at the end of May at the Tufnel Park Dome. The concert has been organised by the Sublime Frequencies record label.
Should be a great gig.
This is a moment most skaters have been through, that first drop in, a right of passage. Clearly it’s the easiest trick in the world, other than pushing along or riding off a curb perhaps, but it doesn’t feel like it when you’re up there looking down that first time. Put the tail on the coping with your back foot on it, move your front foot onto the board around the front truck bolts, move your weight forward and roll down the tranny. Easy!
Damn, I feel sorry for the little fella. It’s pure psych when it comes off, and then, once you’ve made it, it’s almost impossible to bail it ever again. It’s all about that first time though. He’s definitely got his front foot too far forward there.
I think I made my first drop-ins at all heights thankfully.
