Went to see Joan As Police Woman at the Barbican on Sunday with support from James Vincent McMorrow. It was a superb gig and, despite having been to the Barbican numerous times, the first time I’ve been in this amazing concert space.
I think I am officially in love with her, don’t tell the bread knife though.
Saw the Gorillaz at the O2 Arena last night, what a concert; Bobby Womack, De La Soul, Neneh Cherry, Little Dragon, Mark E. Smith, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Syrian National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music as well as Mick Jones, Paul Simenon and, of course, Damon Albarn. What a line up, and what an brilliant gig. Went to see Omar Souleyman and Group Doueh on Friday night (29/05/09) at the Tufnell Park Dome, much less illustrious venue than the Dome in Greenwich it must be said. They are from Syria and Western Shahara respectively, and it was the first UK gig for both of them. The concert was a sell out and there were also quite a few people scouting for tickets outside. Also a sell out was the Omar Souleyman Highway to Hassake LP, I went to buy it before he even appeard on stage but was left disappointed. Damn. Continue reading →
