In and Out of Love installation at tate Modern
As the Damien Hirst Exhibition at Tate Modern was in its final week I thought I’d better get round to booking some tickets for Friday Evening. I’ve got mixed feelings about Damien Hirst so I was looking forward to seeing this show and to maybe re-evaluate my opinion of his work but I felt much the same when I left as I did when I went in.
Alighiero Boetti embroidered map
Went to Tate Modern on Saturday to see the Damien Hirst show but as the first tickets available were for entry 5 hours after I arrived so I decided to see the Alighiero Boetti Game Plan exhibition instead.
Candle by Gerhard Richter
Visited Tate Modern at the weekend to see the Gerhard Richter show before it closes next weekend. Although I’ve seen many of his paintings over the years this was the first time I’ve seen anything approaching the scale of a retrospective.
What a great subject for a first proper post, Francis Bacon. I went to his show at Tate Britain at the weekend. His work was a big influence on me when I was at art school and I was really interested to see a show of his work on this scale. I was enormously impressed, although it’s pretty obvious he could make very powerful images, I’d forgotten what a good painter he was.
The image is one of the panels from the second version of the triptych Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion, painted in 1988.
The show runs until the 4th January 2009.
